Mr Bing Gourmet Wrapz

I wandered the streets from Ultimo to Redfern in hope to randomly discover a hole-in-the-wall place to try. After finding nothing that jumped out at me, I walked back to Broadway Shopping Centre... feeling somewhat defeated and ready to default my stomach to a Subway sandwich... when out of nowhere I saw Mr Bing Gourmet Wrapz.

By far, it did not really stand out... in fact with the glare hitting the glass window you can barely see their menu. I stopped for a quick look... hesitated... but then gave in to my curiosity and purchased myself a Miss Kim (The name of a wrap not a Korean girl behind the counter).

The Miss Kim is a Korean BBQ Pork wrap with mild chilli and mayo sauce, cracker, sweet and sour carrots, fresh salad and coriander. I took my wrap across the road to the park to enjoy...

The wrap itself was a flour and egg combo... with the actual sillouete of the fried egg in the wrap as you eat... This was a fantastic twist BUT unfortunately the wrap section without egg (mainly the ends) was slightly undercooked and tasted doughy and raw. The middle section of the wrap was more evenly cooked though.

The sauce in the wrap was more than sufficient and it was delicious... the perfect way to tie the wrap together. I especially love the crunch texture of the broken crackers amongst the wrap. The pork was soft and well cooked and the carrots and salad worked well together.

Pricewise the wrap costed $8.90 but was actually a decent size for it's price....

While I waited for my wrap to be prepared, it was interesting to read the plaque on the building and to find out there's a historic sandstone wall attached from 1843.

I'm not sure if I'd return though... yes the concept and idea is interesting and quite different BUT there's something just not WOW enough for me to return... especially when Sydney has so much more to offer.

About

I suddenly feel the tides turning. A yearn for something better in my life. I'm hoping for big changes in my career, maybe the touch of my first born and the ongoing rollercoaster of my marriage.

It feels important enough to dedicate a few minutes of my days to etch out how it is through my eyes... just so one day I can flick through and reminisce

Meet The Author

I've spent my whole life being the son my parents wanted me to be. I studied hard, went through the different levels of the school system and then I'm now 30. I married a beautiful girl, trying to pay off a mortgage, and have a bucket list of things I want to do which don't involve work.

I've always had a passion for blogging, photography, food, collecting aka organised hoarding and music and I can't think of any better moment to start documenting it...
