I don't even know how to start this entry... I've read a little about this place in reviews and heard a whole bunch of mixed reports on the quality... which probably explains why it's taken me so long to finally go and try this out. In my head I've pre-labelled it as an overpriced and overhyped burger joint. Maybe because it's associated with Neil Perry...
When I walked in the decore is clean, crisp and modern. The staff are all hands on deck. All of them.. and there were plenty of staff. The service was efficient and polite.... and the customers... well they definitely were not short of them.
I ordered my Spicy Pork Belly burger (after reading very bad reviews on their beef patties)... The burger had melt in your mouth pork belly (almost half fat/half meat, which might be considered too fatty by some), scattered crunchy pork crackling, a pickled slaw with fresh chilli, lettuce and pickles. I have to say I was not disappointed at all. It was a great combination of flavours and textures. In fact pleasantly surprised at how decent it was. My only complaint was the bun was very thin and flimsy but it managed to satisfactorily hold the contents 'til the end.
I also tried a crispy hot wing with classic hot sauce. This was well done but really just made the meal too oily overall.
For under $10 in a densely populated Sydney location, you're getting a freshly made and decent quality "gourmet" burger... why would you even go to those big chains for fast food...
