I was hoping to relive this moment through the likes of Brooklyn Hide...
Brooklyn Hide is tucked away off the main street. With the sounds of hipster music and typical cafe chic decore... it screamed the typical trendiness that Sydney loves. The stools were placed a bit too close together so that if it was ever full, it would be difficult to navigate around without knocking into other patrons. I placed my order and grabbed a stool with a window facing out to the alleyway. There's something nice and peaceful with dining/reviewing alone to enjoy people watching...
I ordered the Manhattan (above) with was a bagel of choice (poppyseed), in-house cured lox, cream cheese, rocket and honey vinegar. The flavours were all mild but blended well together... It didn't fall apart in my hands but some big bites did mush the cream cheese out the sides. I'm no bagel connoisseur but it seemed to be a nice combination of fluffy and chewy.
I also decided to make it worth my walk and order a everything bagel with Jalapeño cream cheese to take away. That Jalapeño cream cheese had a nice kick... that left a little unexpected tingle.... it also almost didn't survive the two kilometre walk back to the office as I just had to have a taste...
I really enjoyed the nice change of eating bagels instead of the usual brioche and panini... Though it was quite pricey for the portion size you get... the two bagels above ended up costing me $15.50.
It was not quite the same experience I had or remembered but this place would definitely be on my revisit list just because it's a great example of doing something simple but well.
