Lok Lok Dumpling Bar

We decided to do a food eating journey through Macquarie Center. Lok Lok Dumpling Bar was a place I've heard some positive reviews from but never had a chance to visit.

From their extensive menu, we opted for some typical Shao Long Bao. The meat had this annoying grittiness to it that just left a bad after taste. The soup was very light and there just wasn't enough flavour. The dough was thin as well and broke very easily.

We also sampled their Lok Lok Chicken Fried Rice. I loved the Chinese card board container box it came in. Also it was quite a large serving. I think that's where the praises end. The rice was dry and a bit hard. There wasn't a lot of flavouring either. We ended up doggy bagging this home because we couldn't power through it.

Th service at the counter was very rushed and impatient. They want you to order quickly and there really isn't any customer service at all. What I do like is their self serve condiments bar.. with sauces, cutlery and tissues. Despite being a corner store that looks like it could have a lot of seating, the seating is quite limited. We were forced to grab a seat on a thin counter bench along the store. At least it had a slightly obstructed view into the kitchen. Looking into the kitchen we watched as the staff look flustered by the orders.

With many branches all over Sydney, Lok Lok opens quite strategically in very low competition areas. This is probably because their food isn't the best but they hook you in with their prices. Personally I've had better and probably would not be supporting the Lok Lok franchises in the future.

About

I suddenly feel the tides turning. A yearn for something better in my life. I'm hoping for big changes in my career, maybe the touch of my first born and the ongoing rollercoaster of my marriage.

It feels important enough to dedicate a few minutes of my days to etch out how it is through my eyes... just so one day I can flick through and reminisce

Meet The Author

I've spent my whole life being the son my parents wanted me to be. I studied hard, went through the different levels of the school system and then I'm now 30. I married a beautiful girl, trying to pay off a mortgage, and have a bucket list of things I want to do which don't involve work.

I've always had a passion for blogging, photography, food, collecting aka organised hoarding and music and I can't think of any better moment to start documenting it...
