It's lunchtime on a Good Friday and my wife was craving seafood. After my recent chats with friends on local fish and chip shops, there was a strong recommendation for me to try Kingsgrove Seafood.. so with grumbling tummies we made our way there.
With not much seating room on offer... and the shop already filled with customers waiting for their take-away orders we decided that we'll dine in our car.
I manage to grab a bit of everything to try including their grilled battered fish with chips. The fish was probably our least favourite of all the food we ordered. There was nothing majorly wrong with it... it was just a bit bland. Though the chips was quite decent.. I mean nothing to write home about... but it was done well enough not to complain...
We also got some fried calamari, fish cocktails and potato scallops... all of which were quite faultless. The potato scallops were amazingly familiar to my childhood, the fish cocktails were massive and buttery smooth, and the calamari was cooked fantastically. We paired it all with some tartare sauce which just summed up the meal perfectly.
My wife insisted on some greens so we got a small container of Greek Salad which was very generous with the feta... but to me a greek salad is a greek salad... you can't stuff this up....
To finish off, a fried pineapple dusted in icing sugar... I still would prefer the cinnamon on my pineapple but this was the perfect, super oily treat to top off the meal.
I can understand why there was a line... and even though this ain't my local... it's not that far to travel for some decent old school fish and chip experience...
