Yoghurberry

Frozen yogurt hit Sydney hard and fast... like a volcanic eruption spreading outwards from Strathfield people took onto it like it had healing powers. The lines were outside the doors and this was in Winter. Despite not having the ability to predict the future, I did officially make the call that this fad will die like an unloved Tomagotchi.

If you've been living under a rock for the past few years, nearly all frozen yogurt places works on a similar workflow. They have multiple self serving yogurt dispensing machines where you can choose what flavour you like and the quantity you want. Staff will be around if you can't comprehend how to operate the machines.

Then you go to another counter where it offers a massive selection of toppings (which you would not have considered necessary) to place onto the frozen yogurt. Then you go to the counter where they weigh what you have chosen and charge by weight... to which you might discover that you're "small" serving turned out to be bigger than you imagined.

With a few mistakes of over-ordering under our belts, we no longer make such a newbie move. We got a little sample of taro, green tea and coconut... and an assorted sprinkle of toppings to pair.

It does make for a quick and fuss-free sweet tooth cure... but let it be known... many of these places are closing down just as hard and fast as it all began. The hype is over and the people of Sydney have spoken... we prefer gelato and ice-cream...

About

I suddenly feel the tides turning. A yearn for something better in my life. I'm hoping for big changes in my career, maybe the touch of my first born and the ongoing rollercoaster of my marriage.

It feels important enough to dedicate a few minutes of my days to etch out how it is through my eyes... just so one day I can flick through and reminisce

Meet The Author

I've spent my whole life being the son my parents wanted me to be. I studied hard, went through the different levels of the school system and then I'm now 30. I married a beautiful girl, trying to pay off a mortgage, and have a bucket list of things I want to do which don't involve work.

I've always had a passion for blogging, photography, food, collecting aka organised hoarding and music and I can't think of any better moment to start documenting it...
