Located in the prestigious suburb of Manuka and surrounded by what seems to be only other eateries sits Baan Latsamy. A Thai restaurant offering a clean cut decore, warm atmosphere and actual ambience.
My friend opted for the some Chicken Stir Fry with lemon grass and chilli. Chicken was very tender and most of the flavours balanced well on the dish. There was very little to fault.
The biggest disappointment for me was finding out their Beef Larb doesn't come raw. I made a comment to the waiter and he acknowledged that's how he likes it too. The meat was dry and there was a coriander garden growing on my plate. At least the sour and chilli kick was represented. I paired it with sticky rice but found it very difficult to power through.
In saying all that, service is extremely friendly and they were happy with split bills (and not even showing any annoyance at all).
All in all, it was a decent experience but I was left feeling it was a bit too western fusion for my liking and I shall continue my search in Canberra for something more authentic.
