Doing some reading on Canberra eats... I stumbled upon Beach Burrito Company. The funny thing is this franchise began in Bondi Sydney and I've only heard of it since I've been in Canberra. I also chose to visit the restaurant on Tuesday to take advantage of their $3 Tacos.
I ordered three tacos:
Chilli Con Carne - Chilli con carne, Mexican rice, pico de gallo, lettuce, blended cheese, smokey salsa, guacamole, sour cream, chilli salt and served with a wedge of lime
Lime Chilli garlic Prawn - Prawns cooked in lime juice and chilli garlic butter, Mexican rice, pico de gallo, sweet corn, blended cheese, mango, pineapple & jalapeno salsa, guacamole, and chilli salt, served with a wedge of lime.
Grilled Fish - Seasoned grilled fish, frijoles especial, pico de gallo, sweet corn, blended cheese, cabbage, salsa blanco, chilli salt, and coriander served with a wedge of lime.
Without diving into each taco, let's just say you'll get a soft shell taco, that's messy to eat... each embracing fresh salads and minimal meat. The highlight was being able to smother the tacos with some burning habernero sauce on the table to add some much needed flavour. At the end of the day it's $3 a taco (normally $5) and that's as much as I'd be happy to pay for it.
So all the ordering is done at the counter and then you can grab a table of choice. Beach Burrito provides outdoor and indoor seating, which some longer benches that can cater for large groups.
Despite my reasons for coming here was to get a cheap meal, I felt pressured to get a drink and spent $6 on a can of Pistonhead to wash it down. At that price, it might have been nicer to have another two tacos.
To be honest, I was really looking forward to cheap taco night... but for me the quality just wasn't there to entice another revisit... even though the price is rather tempting...
