So the usual starts with Kimbap. Kimbap, similar to sushi, is a Korean dish made from steamed white rice and various other ingredients, rolled in gim and served in bite-size slices. I loved the taste of the overpowering sesame oil paired with the freshness of carrot, ham, egg, radish and cucumber. These bite size delights bring back memories of sharing my Korean friends lunch at high school.
Next up is a Hotdog. Like a corn dog, its essentially a battered sausage on a stick. The one I use to get in Strathfield was dipped in a crunchy Panko styled crumbing that represented good street food.. this unfortunately was dry, dense and unpleasant.
We tried to drench in a sea of tomato sauce and mustard to spark it to life... but it was way overcooked and beyond resuscitation.
This little store resides off the main streets of Eastwood. It's clean, unpretentious and the service is friendly. When we walked in the staff were enjoying a meal of their own as there were no customers in sight. It felt like we rocked up to somebody's house for lunch... but I didn't mind that. Besides ordering at the counter and them bringing the food to you, everything is self serve.
Despite the hotdog let down, I'd be keen to come back and sample the rest of their menu. There's something about stores reppin' street food that I love...
