Horse and Jockey Hotel

It was the night of Australia V South Korea in soccer. Our plan was to hit Strathfield among the sea of Koreans and support Australia. As we spent our time circling Strathfield and cursing the parking situation we decided to head to a pub closer to home.

Lucky for us, we got there early because this too became very packed nearing the start of the game.

We glanced at their typical pub menu and made our picks. During the week they have all these great specials that make it very value for money... cheap eats and cheap beer.... but tonight was the weekend and well you get slapped with the extra costs...

The service was quite horrible. They mixed up our orders and the wrong buzzers were going off. The girl at the counter was slow to serve and it wasn't even that busy when we got there. The did apologise and eventually got our orders right without too much attitude.

I ended up choosing the Graziers Beef Potted Pie. It was essentially a piece of soggy pastry slapped onto a beef stew that was very salty... served with a side of salad and mash. The meal itself was the most disappointing moment of the night. The pie costs $17.

My wife ordered Graziers Rump 300 grams steak. Actually nearly our whole group ordered steak that night and not one was cooked to the correct order... it was always over cooked. My wife didn't even finish the meal.

If you need a place to hang with a TV and bar... this place fits the bill... if you want a good meal with that.. I'd suggest eat before you come OR try a weeknight and don't pay that much dosh for this quality.

About

I suddenly feel the tides turning. A yearn for something better in my life. I'm hoping for big changes in my career, maybe the touch of my first born and the ongoing rollercoaster of my marriage.

It feels important enough to dedicate a few minutes of my days to etch out how it is through my eyes... just so one day I can flick through and reminisce

Meet The Author

I've spent my whole life being the son my parents wanted me to be. I studied hard, went through the different levels of the school system and then I'm now 30. I married a beautiful girl, trying to pay off a mortgage, and have a bucket list of things I want to do which don't involve work.

I've always had a passion for blogging, photography, food, collecting aka organised hoarding and music and I can't think of any better moment to start documenting it...
