Chatkazz

We find ourselves in Harris Park to satisfy our cravings for some good Indian food. I'm no Indian food connoisseur but I feel that the Indian food in this area is pretty darn good and authentic. We did a quick google search on the ride there and made our way to Chatkazz.

When we arrived the place was getting quite packed, and as usual a good sign in a Indian restaurant is that we were the only non-Indian people dining there. We were seated promptly and the menus were already on the table. Another good sign of authentic foods is when you open up the menu and you don't know what anything is.

To my surprise this place is 100% vegetarian. Interesting... I find that vegetarian Indian food is just as amazing as ones with meat... one of the few cuisines I can say that about...

We actually let the waiter do most of the ordering for us and this is what we ended up with to dine between three....

We got the Puri Sabji Srikhand. The puri (the massive puffs of carbs) was accompanied by four sides. You can see them cook these in the kitchen... once the dough hits the oil, the puff up to these amazing size.

A samosa to share with two sauces to dip.

My wife always opts for the mango lassi to wash her food down. It was quite dark in colour and looked like a cup of melted american cheese initially.

My friend and I both chose the Thums up. I didn't know this was Indian Cola...owned by Coca Cola. Apparently this was the main cola in India for ages until Coca Cola re-entered the Indian market and bought them out for 60 million dollars.

We also got to try the masala pav. It is essentially cut up bread smothered in tomatoes, onions, capsicum and more flavouring. Served warm and was one of my favourites for the night.

We also got dabeli. Like an Indian burger, with two pavs, dabeli masala and chutney. This was probably my least favourite of the night. It really felt too bland and dry for my liking.

We got recommended the Dahi Puri. This was amazing. Apparently it's a favourite among the children to help with the spice of the meal I didn't find any of the dishes spicy at all but these were cold and amazingly delicious. Here's a link to the wiki for further Dahi Puri reading

We finished the meal off with Paneer Garlic Masala Dosa. Paneer is a fresh cheese commonly used in South Asian cuisines. The blend in the dosa was just so interesting and refreshingly scrumptious. I enjoyed every bite without the need for the curry dip.

When we finally paid and left, the restaurant was completely filled with people lined up outside waiting for a seat. Still we were the only non-Indian diners...

This place really opened my eyes to what's out there. It left me amazed and curious at what I still have yet to try... I'll definitely be back again and again.

About

I suddenly feel the tides turning. A yearn for something better in my life. I'm hoping for big changes in my career, maybe the touch of my first born and the ongoing rollercoaster of my marriage.

It feels important enough to dedicate a few minutes of my days to etch out how it is through my eyes... just so one day I can flick through and reminisce

Meet The Author

I've spent my whole life being the son my parents wanted me to be. I studied hard, went through the different levels of the school system and then I'm now 30. I married a beautiful girl, trying to pay off a mortgage, and have a bucket list of things I want to do which don't involve work.

I've always had a passion for blogging, photography, food, collecting aka organised hoarding and music and I can't think of any better moment to start documenting it...
