To kick off the night we ordered some drinks, the guys settled for the lime juice and the girls with longan drinks. I recommend the lime to pair with the meal, especially to help break down some of the spices if you find things too chilli.
The first recommendation was the fish dumplings green curry. I found the initial taste too pungent, but as the night grew on, it paired nicely with some steamed rice.
The second recommendation was the roasted duck curry. A definite crowd pleaser. This felt less authentic and more catered for the western cultures.
Next was the Pork Belly with vegetables. Actually I barely had any of this dish. It might have been the greens that made me stay away. My mother-in-law loved it though.
The next was something we recognised from our trip in Bangkok. This soup we had in a run down restaurant. Supposedly normally mixed with liver and other entrails. This was more minced meat with bloody jelly. It was still just as delicious.
The next dish was the Prawns with clear noodles. As you can probably tell by now I didn't do a great job at getting all the proper names on the night. It was hard to capture all the food when everyone is wanting to eat. Who am i to hold up the eating process? The noodles soaked the sauce and was full of flavour.
The next dish was Skirt steak with spicy dipping sauce. The meat itself a bit dry but works well with the dipping sauce.
One of the highlights of the night was the Whole snapper with green mango salad. I think visually this summed up the authentic meal. The mango salad was refreshing and amazing.
Plus one of my wife's favourite from our thailand trip was the Papaya salad with quail egg. I think she just loved quail egg in general.
I'd definitely come back again to do my Thai dining here. The staff was on the ball, the food came out efficiently... the only downfall to Asian run restaurants is there Cash Only policy. Sigh... fork out and allow some card payment!
